Websockets

Weird, in the weeds question I know but I tried visiting this site in private mode and my developer mode still showed a couple of websocket connections. Why would a guest who isn't signed in ever get notifications? If they're not for reply/message notifications what are they for?

Topic/forum/recent updates happen over the same channel.
